Simulating a Solar Eclipse in STAGEit

STAGEit can position its virtual Sun using a real-world location, date and time. With a solar eclipse approaching, we couldn't resist taking the feature a little further.

STAGEit Creator can position its virtual Sun using a real-world location, date and time, allowing the lighting in a 3D scene to match the position of the Sun in the real world.

With a solar eclipse happening the following day, it seemed like a good excuse to put the feature to use.

Then we got a little carried away and simulated the eclipse itself in 3D.

Simulating the solar eclipse in 3D using STAGEit's real-world Sun positioning.

A slightly different use for STAGEit, but a fun way to demonstrate what happens when real-world data becomes part of a spatial scene.
